My Master Tomato Sauce
Tomato Sauce.
A great go-to tomato sauce is one of the most versatile things in your kitchen. Pasta, pizza, eggs in purgatory, as a dip….the possibilities are literally endless. It’s quick & easy to bang together, lasts forever, you can freeze it – so much win.
This is my favourite Tomato Sauce, featuring gorgeous Pomi Tomatoes. I legit always have a batch in my house, ready to go at a moment’s notice. Make this recipe, y’all. Delicious.
Dennis’ Master Tomato Sauce #ad
¼ cup olive oil
1/2 Spanish onion, finely diced
6 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoon minced basil stems
1/2 teaspoon crushed chili flakes
2 tablespoons Pomi Tomato Paste
2 X14-ounce cans Pomi Chopped Tomatoes
Zest of 1 lemon
1 tablespoon minced basil leaves
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated on a microplane
1 teaspoon sea salt
½ teaspoon cracked black pepper
Heat a 3-quart saucepan over medium-heat, and pour in the olive oil. When warm, add the onion, season with a pinch of sea salt, and cook until softened and translucent, 6 – 7 minutes. Add the garlic, basil stems, chili flakes, and tomato paste, and cook for 45 seconds, then pour in the Pomi chopped tomatoes. Add the lemon zest, season with sea salt and cracked black pepper, and bring to a simmer. Cook for 10 – 12 minutes, until thickened and bubbly. Remove from heat and stir in the parmesan cheese and basil leaves. Delicious!!
